Be happy with the app:Celebrating WRD differently




World Radio Day was celebrated in Malappuram,Kerala,the first computer-literate district in India,by installing the NewsOnAir app in the mobile phones of hundreds of people from diverse social milieu,assembled in three busy bus stations at Areecode,Kondotti and Manjeri.'My mobile is my radio;it's always with me' was the catchline of this programme.

Organised by All-Kerala Radio Listeners' Association,with the support of Manjeri FM,the function at Areekode was inaugurated  by installing the app in the mobile phone of the local Panchayat vice-president A.M.Shafi. K.K.Kunjani Thenjeri,Aneesh Kollampadi and others,led this novel celebration, in which people from different walks of life participated.

At Kondotty,the function was inaugurated by Sheeba,Municipal Chairperson, by getting the app installed in her mobile phone .At Manjeri,the function started with installing the app in the mobile phone of traffic enforcement unit,by  T.P.Muhammed Basheer.
A group of dedicated listeners including  Rajesh Thuvvoor,Sasi Thrikkalangode,Mushafa Thrikkalangode,T Muhammad Moothedam,Mohandas Chemrakkattoor, Ramachandran Thekkumpuram,Ashraf Manothodika and Nazeeb Thachanna visited the nearby shops and commercial establishments and sensitised them on the benefits of NewsOnAir app. They have decided to continue this initiative in the coming months too,enthused by the overwhelming response.

Malappuram,the most populous district in the State,has a huge number of radio listeners in Kerala.
