Listeners flood Manjeri FM’s FB Timeline with photos of radio sets

About 150 rare photographs of a variety of radio receivers in the FB account

https://www.facebook.com/manjerifm. -That was how World Radio Day was celebrated ,differently, by Manjeri FM station in Kerala. Listeners have been requested through a Facebook post to upload photos of their favourite radio receivers, with a short description. Within minutes, the comment box was flooded with a variety of radio receivers; some are even 75 years- old, yet refuse to budge.

For some, radio sets are journies down the memory lanes, reminding them of their childhood, departed parents and loved ones. Some others keep radio sets presented to them in school days and happy moments in life. A number of radio enthusiasts keep a mini museum of different type of radio receivers in their homes.

The photos of digital radio receivers, music systems and apps too have been uploaded, marking a sea-change in the listening pattern of radio in 2018.

Listeners at Aripra, a non-descript village in Malappuram district celebrated the World Radio Day by setting up a radio kiosk in the local Phoenix Library. They have uploaded photographs of Mr.Pattukalathil Muhammed Haji,a senior citizen, dedicating the kiosk to the public.

A group of students from Amarambalam South A.U.P.School along with their teachers visited the station and gifted us with sapling of a tree marking World Radio Day. The FB Timeline of the station World Radio Day has,so far, received 243 likes, about 150 comments and 20 shares.
